What is a cafe passport?
A cafe passport is a personal record of every cafe you've visited — each one logged, rated and kept as a memento, the way a travel passport collects stamps. Beean is the app built around this idea.
The analogy is to travel. A passport is a record of where you have been, kept in one place. A cafe passport is the same record for cafes: every visit logged, with a rating attached, instead of a name in one app and a photo in another.
Why keep a cafe passport
Two reasons. The first is memory: after a few dozen cafes, nobody remembers which ones were good, and a passport does. The second is that the record compounds. It shows you your own taste — what you consistently rate highly, which cities you drank best in — and it gives friends a list you would actually stand behind, which is worth more than a page of anonymous reviews.
How a cafe passport works in Beean
Beean is a free social app to discover, rate and share cafes with friends. Each visit is logged and scored — the coffee, the space and the vibe — and becomes a designed card. The cards make up your passport: a map of every cafe you have rated, on the same worldwide cafe map you discover from. Sharing is limited to friends you choose, and there is no algorithmic feed. For the mechanics, see more on tracking the cafes you visit.
Physical cafe passport booklets vs a cafe passport app
"Cafe passport" also names a different product: printed city booklets — The Cafe Passport sells them for cities like New York and Chicago, and Starbucks once ran a Coffee Passport of its own. Those are curated checklists for one city, often with discounts attached, and they are good at what they do. A cafe passport app is the other direction: you write it rather than buy it. It records the cafes you actually visited, holds your ratings, works in any city, and is shared with friends instead of sitting on a shelf. If you want a guided tour of one city, buy the booklet. If you want a record of your own taste that grows for years, use an app — that is what Beean is for.

Does it work anywhere?
Yes. Cafes can be rated anywhere in the world.
